Malik Alston is one of Detroit’s premier DJ’s, producers, performers, vocalists and improvisationists. Malik was influenced as a DJ by the groundbreaking radio show of the Electrifying Mojo. He produces and spins without boundaries, often fusing a multitude of styles to create a new innovation in sound. Malik toured the country in 2009 as a founding member of the DJ collective Rhythmic Fusion, bringing audiences unlimited excitement on the decks fused with live performance. He is a founding member of the DJ collective Central Sessions. Malik is the CEO of his label, Truth Manifest Records, founded in 1997. He continues to be a creative vessel and convey passion in his music, with new and exciting projects from Painted Pictures, La Veda and Veronique, soon to be released on Truth Manifest.
Craig Huckaby
Master percussionist, DJ and poet Craig Huckaby enjoys turning audiences on to music from around the world. He began his DJ career in 1986, collecting influential mixtapes from legendary DJ Ken Collier and Farley “Jackmaster” Funk. As a founding member of the DJ collective Rhythmic Fusion, he toured the country in 2009 at full speed, blazing the tables with relentless heat. Craig is a founding member of the DJ collective Central Sessions. A native Detroiter, Craig currently collaborates and performs with many artists including Malik Alston, and is an inventive remixer for Truth Manifest Records. He has a weekly residency at the Funk Loft in Detroit, focused on sharing the love of good music.

Our special guests for the evening include the dynamic, elegant soul power of Veronique, presenting sizzling hot tunes for the floor from her new disc, Veriations of Soul (BackSpin Musiq). Truth Manifest is excited to welcome Veronique home to Detroit as she prepares to travel far and wide, entrancing audiences everywhere.
We are proud to bring you the exceptional artistry of Sky Covington, for an intoxicating journey into her world of dance and soul. Sky is one of Detroit’s finest interpretive perfomers, fusing cultural touchstones that evoke reflection and joy.
Truth Manifest will present a special treat to start the evening, a listening party of sensual new music from internationally known neo-soul artist Julie Dexter, entitled New Again (Ketch A Vibe Records). A dynamic singer/songwriter, composer and producer hailing from Birmingham, England, Julie Dexter is a world-renowned singer / songwriter who has won numerous international awards. Deeply influenced by legends such as Abbey Lincoln, Billie Holiday and Nancy Wilson, as well as popular icons such as Omar and Sade, Julie takes classic soul to the heart of artistry.

Pirahnahead (Whasdat Music) Musician, DJ, producer, orchestral arranger/conductor – each of these words describes Pirahnahead perfectly. While still quite young, he met the legendary DJ Ken Collier who also became his mentor. Pirahnahead toured Europe and Japan (with Moodymann) during the summer of 2005. Pirahna showcased his DJ skills worldwide at locations in Japan, London, Amsterdam, and several other cities. Since then, Pirahna has been a mainstay in Europe and Japan. He is an accomplished remixer for Truth Manifest Records. In 2006, Pirahna launched his own imprint, Whasdat Music. With several upcoming productions and remixes on Whasdat Music, Women on Wax, Sound Signature and Truth Manifest, the very best of Pirahna is just on the horizon.
Doc Link (Liberate Recordings) Inspired by the legendary club sets of Farley “Jackmaster” Funk and Ron Hardy, Chicago native Doc Link launched his DJ career in 1987. His versatility ranges from soul and house to raw funk – Doc’s signature style of DJ’ing mixes new and old, often including his own re-edits and versions of popular tracks, in numerous appearances across the country. A winning collaboration with friend Roy Davis Jr. on “Dance Shake” further propelled Doc Link into the limelight as a producer. Continued collaborations with Davis Jr. as well as a production alliance with Malik Alston for the classic “Back 2 Chicago” on King Street cemented Doc’s place in house music. He is a premier remixer for Truth Manifest Records. Doc started his own Liberate Recordings imprint in 2006 with New York City’s DJ EMan. Doc Link‘s DJ sets are energetic, raw, and completely from the soul. The legacy of Chicago house shines bright with Doc Link.
